Why choose me as your trainer?

As a retired police officer, I have dealt with numerous First Aid, Mental Health and Safeguarding issues. Consequently, I have a wealth of experience and knowledge in teaching & administering first aid, first aid for mental health and safeguarding issues. Please see my Endorsements page for my reviews.

should i do a first aid or Safeguarding course?

I’m a little bias, but yes, everyone should know some first aid, you never know when you might need it. A few simple steps can save a life. The same is first aid for mental health where once again, taking a few simple steps, lives can be saved.

For Safeguarding, it is everyone’s responsibility to protect children and vulnerable adults from abuse and neglect.

What will i get from the course?

Upon completion of any of the first aid courses, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification. More importantly, you will walk away with potentially life saving skills and have the confidence to use them.

For Safeguarding, you will obtain skills and knowledge as well as a recognised qualification, that helps you to detect or prevent children or vulnerable adults being the victim of abuse or neglect.

How much will it cost?

As a comparison, the most popular course, the Emergency First Aid at Work I charge £110.00 pp. Compare this to the charges quoted by leading first aid training companies of £245.00 + VAT and £165.00 + VAT for exactly the same course. (correct as of January 2025).

Why can I be so much cheaper ? Simply because I do not have a venue to maintain or staff to pay. Do not think that you will receive a lesser standard of training and tuition.

Remember there is no VAT cost, or hidden costs, the cost includes all handbooks, full tuition and certificates (Certificates are awarded by the First Aid Awards. FAA are an Awarding Organisation regulated by Ofqual and SQA Accreditation).

Where do courses take place?

I come to you. A course can take place in your home, workplace, sports club, or any other appropriate venue, you decide. However, I do have access to a venue that has free parking and kitchen facilities if required.

How many people can do the course?

Minimum of 2 people and a maximum 12 people (First Aid) 16 people (First Aid for Mental Health)

is first aid & safeguarding just for the workplace?

Not at all. Workplaces have an obligation to have their employees trained in first aid and potentially safeguarding. However, everyone can benefit from learning first aid techniques and being aware of safeguarding issues. These courses are beneficial for family use, social clubs, sports clubs or anywhere where groups of people gather. For more details please see Why First Aid or Safeguarding
